Infrastructure Components
Firewall: Stopping point between infrastructure locations
Public Server: Main entry point for users
Database: A structure that holds user info and access data
Private Storage: Place to store secure data
- Components can be used more than once.
-
01Drag components to the right locations. Server calls to the database must retrieve data from storage safely.
-
02Hit RUN to test what you've built.
-
03If your system fails, rearrange your components and try again. (Reset clears the board.)

How to evaluate user activity
Look for things that may indicate the user has bad intentions:
- Time span: A large number of access attempts over a short period of time could be a denial-of-service attack.
- Location: Have there been known attacks from certain locations?
- Activity: SQL injections, .exe files, or unauthorized requests for sensitive data are signs of malicious intent.
- Number of attempts: Repeated logins may mean someone is trying a guess a password.

02We've had recent attacks from Iqaluit, Canada; Uppsala, Sweden; and Serangoon, Singapore.

How to play
-
01Match your total to the target number. Tap a tile to add or remove its value. 1 means it's added to your total, 0 means it's not.
-
02The value of each tile corresponds to the number below it. Add and subtract different values from your total as often as you like before time runs out.
-
03When you match your total to the target value, you reveal another digit in the IP address.

Hints and Help
Before time runs out, write a binary code to make your total match the target value. Each number you crack reveals a portion of a hacker's IP address.
Hint
Each place in a binary number (known as a bit) corresponds to a multiple of 2. Starting with the number 1 and moving right to left, the bits increase by being multiplied by 2.
Examples:
-
010101 in binary = 5 (0+4+0+1)
-
02101101 in binary = 45 (32+0+8+4+0+1)
How to play
From right to left, each tile represents a bit value (e.g. 1, 2, 4, 8, and so on). Tap a tile to add that bit value to your total. Tap again to remove it.
You can add and subtract different bit values from your total as often as you like before time runs out. When you correctly match your total to the target number, you reveal another digit in the IP address.
Final Mission
Strike the Hacker
We need to find this hacker and shut them down. Follow the trail of encrypted shadow IPs until we find the hacker's actual location.
